What Comes Next? Creating a Life That Has Room for You, Too

What comes after years of taking care of everyone else? A new chapter filled with possibilities. Let’s explore what we want more of in life—and give ourselves permission to discover what’s next.

Garden path representing a new chapter in life and discovering new possibilities.

For a lot of years, I was busy taking care of everyone and everything else. And truthfully, I still am in many ways—and I wouldn’t change that. I love being there for the people I care about. But somewhere along the way, it became pretty easy to put myself at the bottom of the list.

I’m learning that taking care of the people I love doesn’t mean there can’t be room for me, too.

Maybe you know that feeling.

But lately, I’ve been thinking about a different question:

What do I want this next chapter of my life to look like?

I don’t have all the answers. In fact, I’m still figuring it out. But I’m beginning to think that might be the best part.

Maybe “What’s Next?” Doesn’t Need a Big Answer

Maybe your next chapter isn’t about completely reinventing yourself. Maybe it’s about finally having a little more room to explore the things that interest you.

For me, that means trying new things, learning new skills, taking better care of myself, growing things, creating things and discovering new ways to earn a little extra income.

Some things I try will probably be wonderful. Others may have me wondering what on earth I was thinking. 😂 But I want to keep learning and exploring anyway.

I think we sometimes put so much pressure on ourselves to figure out our “purpose” that we forget we’re allowed to simply be curious.

Maybe the next chapter starts by asking, “What would I like to try?”

That’s Why I Created The Resource Wonder

I’ve always been someone who loves finding useful things—an interesting idea, a helpful resource, a great recipe, a gardening tip, a new tool or something that makes life just a little easier.

And when I find something good, I usually want to tell someone about it.

The Resource Wonder is my place to do exactly that.

It’s also a place for me to explore this next chapter right alongside you. I want to talk about the things that can help us feel better, stay curious, keep learning and create lives that feel interesting and meaningful.

You’ll find those ideas here in four areas:

Live Well — Simple ideas for healthier habits, nutritious food, movement, wellness and taking better care of ourselves.

Grow & Create — Gardening, creative projects and the simple pleasure of making or growing something.

Learn & Earn — New skills, digital marketing, blogging, side-income ideas and opportunities to keep learning and creating possibilities.

Your Next Chapter — The bigger conversation about trying new things, finding purpose, having adventures and making more room for ourselves.

I have a feeling these categories will grow and change as I do.

And I’m perfectly okay with that.

This Chapter Gets to Be About You, Too

For years, many of us have been really good at asking what everyone else needs.

Maybe now it’s time to start asking ourselves a few questions, too.

What would I like to learn?

What would make me feel stronger or healthier?

What sounds fun?

Where would I like to go?

What have I always wanted to try?

And maybe the biggest one:

What do I want more of in my life?

I don’t think we need to answer all of those questions today. I certainly can’t.

But we can start paying attention to the answers as they come.

That’s what I hope The Resource Wonder becomes—a place where we can find ideas, discover useful resources, try new things and remind each other that there is still so much ahead of us.

I’m not writing this because I’ve figured out my next chapter.

I’m writing it because I’m ready to start creating it.

And if you’re wondering what’s next for you, too, I hope you’ll stick around.

Let’s discover what’s next together.
